Informal and friendly accommodation

One of YHA’s most remote hostels, Llanddeusant is a rare remaining example of a traditional style hostel (all our rooms are bunk rooms) in the Black Mountain range of the Brecon Beacons. It has an informal, family feel which is boosted by a range of on and off-site outdoor activities provided by Arc Adventures.

Remote and peaceful location

Perfect for group and family get togethers, Llanddeusant is situated within an international dark skies area, an area of outstanding natural beauty and an international Geo-park. The Youth Hostel garden, has a capacity for 10 tents and seating and tables for meals. As well as a small woodland with designated fire pit for use by all guests. Facing west, you can enjoy beautiful sunsets and views over Coed Pen Arthur and Tricrug across to the peak of the Black Mountain (Mynydd Du).

Stunning views wherever you look

The hostel boasts spectacular views of the Sawdde Valley and trails lead to the legendary Llyn-y-Fan glacial lake, meaning the hostel is ideal for walking and cycling holidays. The area is known for Red Kites and other nearby attractions include the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Aberglasney Gardens, and the medieval castles of Dryslwyn, and Carreg Cennen, which are all within easy reach.

This 26 bed Youth Hostel has a selection of dorm rooms and private rooms available as well as some camping pitches. The room breakdown is as follows:

1 x 8 bunk room

1 x 6 bunk room

3 x 4 bunk rooms

Self catering

The hostel is self-catering only and boasts an impressive fully equipped self-catering kitchen with two big ovens and all the plates, cutlery and pans you will need to feed the hordes.

Full Board Breaks

We can provide catered options for groups of 10 or more – please contact the hostel directly.

There is no phone signal and no Wi-Fi - meaning it is a real escape from modern life. Instead hostel staff are on hand to give you recommendations of tracks, trails & other attractions locally.

Laundry facilities and towel hire is available.

The hostel has a drying room with a dehumidifier, perfect for if you happen to come in from a day on the water or the Hill a little bit drenched.

There is a large barbecue and fire pit/bonfire area which can be used by all guests.

Camping under the stars in the Brecon Beacons:-

Campers are welcome but there is a limited space for tents at YHA Llanddeusant and we would only really recommend small hiking style tents use our facilities.

Campers have full access to the indoor facilities which include showers, toilets, a self-catering kitchen and comfy chairs in case of bad weather.
